![]() I'm not sure how popular Obey Me is in Japan, and NTT Solmare might just consider the Japanese revenue a plus for their western oriented game. If they can run a successful game with lower cost seiyuu then they don't have any reason to change that. Once Obey Me turned out to be a big hit and NTT Solmare thought that it was worth launching in Japan, they were already committed to the current cast. They don't need to spend money on hiring big name seiyuu to sell the game so they didn't bother. And in the west, the seiyuu themselves are not as much of a selling point, especially in mobile games. From what I could tell they didn't launch any of them in Japan, including Obey Me. Part of my theory has been that NTT Solmare (until recently) has produced otome games specifically for the western/English market. Which makes sense since I was looking at game and anime listings, not radio or TV (not that those have sites in English I could ready anyway). That’s all for my discussion starter for today, folks.Īh, I just found this post! When Obey Me first came out I tried to look into the seiyuu and found practically nothing. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on this, and I’m 100% open to any feedback. Why did NTT Solmare choose to go to TV and Radio agencies to hire people to voice characters in OM, rather than people from seiyuu agencies? So with all this information, that brings up one question: *(One thing both Office Keyword and MC Kikaku have in common is that both head offices are located in Osaka Japan, where NTT Solmare’s headquarters are located as well.) OKAKI (Luke)seems to run his own group called OKAKI KINGDOM,which also has to do with, you guessed it: Radio programs and more (Like music and performances of sorts).Īs for Hirata Yu (Simeon), I haven’t been able to find anything he’s a part of, or really anything other than his twitter account. Kawata Kazuki (Solomon) is from an agency called Office Keyword, which revolves around TV and Radio programs, just like MC Kikaku does. He’s not associated with any agency, as he’s freelance. Miura Ayme (Asmodeus) is an artist, cosplayer, seiyuu, and a Visual Kei vocalist. But when most of the games they make revolves more so around otome and joseimuke, why would NTT Solmare prioritize hiring talented and newbie female seiyuus for their VN games, but not do the same when it comes to male seiyuus for the Shall We Date? series, which they’re most popular for? I’d like to know the fandom’s thoughts on this as well, but below is a combination of information that both my friend and I found on the Seiyuus of Obey Me!:Īgency profiles of the seiyuus from MC Kikaku: This means that NTT Solmare very much did have the budget to hire professional seiyuus and even ones with small followings to voice act in their games. When I looked up the list of seiyuus in that series, I found out that NTT Solmare hired very notable seiyuus that played major roles in popular anime, some of them being: Horie Yui, Hikasa Yoko, and Suzaki Aya. This brings me to my next point, concerning a visual novel series that NTT Solmare also created, Moe! Ninja Girls. The MC Kikaku agency focuses on TV and radio programs, which is a weird place to go to hire people as seiyuus, but that’s all good. But to my surprise, I found out that the agency they were in didn’t focus on voice acting for anime or games at all. Within a few minutes, a friend of mine who had access to Japanese resources, found the agency that 8 of the seiyuus came from. We thought that maybe NTT Solmare just didn’t have the budget to hire seiyuus with even a small following. I was curious about why I hadn’t seen any other roles from them, let alone what agencies they’re evenfrom. So one day, My friends and I were talking about seiyuus when the topic of the Obey Me! seiyuus came up. ![]() (I apologize in advance if the formatting seems off, I had to redo the hyperlinks on a mobile device)
